Storytime ~ Teach Kids to Weave a Web of Wonder with Storytelling Curriculum Ideas

Storytime Woes?

Have you ever tried it with a room full of little people under the age of two?  What a fun experience, it takes a roomful of parents to keep everyone on target.  And, a room full of early elementary age children isn't much easier, if you're lucky they might stay on their squares, but keeping everyone silent at the same time is nearly a feat of wizardry.

So many great stroytellers are out there offering new ideas and twists on old-school ideas. While it is endearing to listen to a Grandma read a book to a group of littles it can be frustrating, especially if she is a stickler for silence.  Someone forgot to tell Granny the age of the Jetson's has arrived.

Through my real world endeavor, The Play Connection, Inc.  I take storytelling to a whole new level with creative play.  We read stories, act them out, and then do a messy craft to make it memorable. Sometimes we even turn the tables on Granny and Gramps and take the story to them letting the kiddos act it out at area retirement homes. Are they listening?  Well, if they can, they do, but most are sitting in their seats and complaining how they can't hear anything.  Hearing is overated. Stories are meant to be seen not just heard.  (Find us on FACEBOOK)

When the opportunity came to review and share a new book entitled, "Show me a Story" featuring 40 craft projects and activities to spark children's storytelling, I jumped on the opportunity.  Emily K. Neuburger shares tried and true activities for companion story projects.  Everything is explained in great detail with templates and patterns to make your project go off without a hitch.
