New Year's Out of the Mouths of Babes - Ask Amanda Advice for Moms
Ask Amanda, the funny things kids say.

"Mommy since Jake and Sam are going to grow up am I?"
"I don't know what you mean?  Of course!"
"Last night you said Jake and Sam are going to get a year older but you said nothing about me!"
"Huh?  Oh!  You mean because I said in the New Year Jake will be seven and Sam will be eighteen?"
"Yes, but you said nothing about me.  Am I going to get  older too?"
"Awww.... Of course!  You'll be turning five this year."
"Good because when  you were talking you said nothing about me."

Then...

"Jake, I'm going to be five this year!  I'm going to make my second birthday on Easter like Jesus because he has two birthdays."

  1. What a cutie!!! I remember getting upset once because my mom said that one of my sisters had been the most beautiful baby. She didn't say anything about me so I thought that meant I'd been an ugly one. It's funny now, but I was very distressed!

  2. :) That's super sweet While at church josh told me he found God. I said ohh good... He said he's here. I said oh yea well this is church. He goes no follow me. So i follow him to this back exit door. It had snowed the day before and there was a crack under the door. Thus it looked like light coming out. He goes do you see the clouds under there. Do you see the light. God lives there. :)

  4. She is cute and adorable but has much to learn - I'd be happy to settle for a year or two of non-birthdays ;)
    Happy New Year.

  6. @Vicki - I am constantly reminded that the flippant things I say touch people in different ways. I know what you mean - If we say something about one child the other ones say (or think) What about me!

  7. @Amanda that is awesome!
@Mary Thanks! I found eyecandy today before I wrote the post. So, I decided to link it to my favorite picture of her. She is a wild child, crazy, chaotic and always trying to make others laugh. I often forget that there is a sweet little, pondering heart in there! I want to hold on to those moments.
