Indian Tandoori Chicken Recipe
Indian Tandoori chicken is traditionally colored dark red. Today, this is accomplished by adding large amounts of food coloring. In the spirit of healthy living, we have omitted the food coloring and focused on the taste. Control the heat by dialing the cayenne pepper up or down to taste. How to Make Tandoori Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
1 t. salt
2 T. lemon juice
1 c. plain yogurt
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 t. ginger
2 t. cumin
2 t. Garam Masala
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
Directions:
1. Remove skin from chicken pieces and place them in a shallow glass baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and lemon juice. Allow chicken to sit in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
2. Combine yogurt, onion, garlic, and spices. Coat chicken pieces with the yogurt mixture. Marinate for 6-24 hours in the refrigerator.
3. Preheat oven to broiler setting. Add chicken to a broiler pan and discard marinade. Broil large pieces 30-35 minutes and smaller pieces 20-30 minutes. Turn pieces half way through.
