This holiday homeschool math lesson for first grade, is a fun learning game for tangrams. What's in Santa's hat? Tangrams! And, yes... Santa Tangram Game for First Grade Elementary
What's in Santa's Hat? Tangram game for elementary!

Shh, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. In March, Santa is a leprechaun. That's right, he just changes his clothes to green and dyes his hair and beard red. You can do it too!

When you make our placemat papercraft free printable template, just cut green and orange to make Lucky the Leprechaun for this tangram placemat papercraft game for kids

It makes the perfect classroom activity for sitting quietly at your desk, or use it at the dinner table to keep the kids busy while you finish preparing dinner.

Click on the images below for printable templates or right click and save to computer to print. The latter way might not come out the right size- it is best to click to our MediaFire storage.

Then, trace and cut out all shapes. When sewing or gluing, leave the top of the hat band open to insert the hat/napkin. I also used the face (just glued the sides) to make the storage space larger.

Easy Saint Patrick's Day Craft and Activities for Preschool: Leprechaun

Make a Cute Handprint Leprechaun for St. Pat's Day! Erin Go Bragh!

Who doesn't love messy Saint Patrick's Day activities for preschool?  Okay, me, but most kids love it.  This is a simple twist on the hand-print turkey.  Brave souls can do the craft as pictured.  We took green, orange, and peach paint to transform little hands into a lucky leprechaun.  Not so brave?  Trace a handprint on construction paper and cut out one of each color then just cut and paste.  "Erin go Bragh"!

Ever wonder what Erin go Bragh means?

From Wikpedia:
Erin go Bragh is an anglicisation of the Irish phrase Éirinn go Brách (pronounced [ˈeːɾʲɪn̠ʲ ɡə ˈbˠɾˠɑːx]), in which Éirinn is the dative of Éire (meaning "Ireland"). In standard modern Irish the phrase is Éire go Brách (pronounced [ˈeːɾʲə ɡə ˈbˠɾˠɑːx]). It is probable that the English version was taken from what was a "dative" context, such as Go bhfanad in Éirinn go brách("May I stay in Ireland for ever") or Go bhfillead go hÉirinn go brách ("May go back to Ireland for ever").

Leprechaun craft for St. Patrick's Day
Glue the felt over a hanger.

We took a sparkly, green pipe-cleaner and wrapped the hook end of the hanger. Then, we draped a piece of green felt over the base and glued it with tacky glue.

Next, we cut out shapes from scraps of construction paper and made a leprechaun with a pot of gold. Use tacky glue or a glue stick. Other St. Patrick's Day themes would be a rainbow, a snake, or a simple shamrock. Whatever you choose have fun!
