Wordless Wednesday: Make a Recycled Pumpkin Snowman

Need pumpkin decorating ideas?

Okay, he's not a recycled pumpkin just a leftover- "Make a Snowman Jack-o-lantern". Jake likes to keep his pumpkin in the house to protect it from would be smashers. He's been doing this since he was one. As long as no one uses them as a kickball or a chair, they last until spring, at which time we toss it in the garden and pray for pumpkin babies. Use Velcro to attach felt/foam shapes, and change his face. Enjoy!

A picture is worth a thousand words. One of these days, I'm going to start using my new camera, but it seems like such a chore when my phone is so handy. I guess my phone pictures are only worth five-hundred words! :-)

Let your picture tell the story, thanks for linking up!

Wordless Wednesday: Billy the Exterminator Event

Meet Billy the Exterminator at World of Wheels

Who is Billy the Exterminator? This guy. The kids were huge fans! Scroll down to see an episode and to find out, what happened to Billy the Exterminator? Looking for things to do in Indiana?

Indy (Indianapolis, Indiana)is known for the Indianapolis 500 and other motor racing events. Indy also hosts a huge World of Wheels event every year.

Billy the Exterminator

We waited in line with an unhappy Jake for three hours.  Billy was delayed.  Not so sure he was worth the wait. We paid $45 to get into the World of Wheels, $5 to Park, and $5 for the photo. (Amanda was free.) Kids faces, priceless.

Where is Billy the Exterminator now? What happened to Billy the Exterminator?

Billy the Exterminator picture

Billy is tiny, I felt like I towered over him. The kids were overwhelmed, Mommy had to prompt them to speak. Amanda had a question.

Billy: "Sweetie, you had a question for me? Go ahead Hon, ask it."
Amanda: "How did your hair get black? You have blonde hair."
Billy: (Laughing) "Aw... some Girl Scouts jumped me and dyed my hair! Can you believe that?"

Jake had already jumped off stage relieved he could go home and play video games, ironic, since this was his surprise.

Amanda covered her mouth in mock shock and laughed. "Mommy, did you hear what he said?"

She's a star struck, boy chaser. Next time, we better wait in line to see Justin Bieber.

Wordless Wednesday

In keeping with last week's theme, and utilizing my blog as a memory book, I decided to post this photo from a few years ago.  Amanda preps for a ballet recital. In case you can't tell, that's brown lipstick.

Wordless Wednesday

Blast from the past. I posted this on Facebook over a year ago. The little one dressed herself and bounded in proud of her accomplishment, "I'm ready, Mommy." I wonder if this was the moment that changed her sense of style? She tries to match and dress like a pretty princess these days. Did I over react? I don't remember what went down.  Probably a, "You can't wear that to town."

Note shoes on opposite feet and stylish Elmo infant socks.
Town.  People make fun of me for saying that. I go to town when I go to the store. Do you?  I guess it stems from growing up in between two cornfields just outside of city limits.

While looking at this picture it occurred to me that these were all once a favorite item of clothing.

Wordless Wednesday- TPC KIDS sing, I Love You Like a Love Song Baby

Everyday, after school, I am brought to happy tears by the angelic voices singing to Selena Gomez's, "I Love You Like a Love Song" in my mini-van.  I transport children ages 3-8 yrs. and the song comes on Disney at the same time everyday.  It is the most touching, adorable thing I have ever heard.

I thought you might like to sing-a-long too.  Here are the lyrics, an instrumental to record your little voices to, and the video found on YouTube.

We were two kids short  but that's okay...

Selena Gomez & the Scene - Love You Like A Love Song Lyrics
It’s been said and done
Every beautiful thought’s been already sung
I guess right now, here’s another one
So your melody will play on and on with the best of ‘em
You are beautiful like a dream come alive, incredible
A sinful, miracle, lyrical
You saved my life again
And I want you to know, baby
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat
Constantly, boy, you played through my mind like a symphony
There’s no way to describe what you do to me
You just do to me, what you do
And it feels like I’ve been rescued
I’ve been set free
I am hypnotized by your destiny
You are magical, lyrical, beautiful, you are
And I want you to know, baby
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat
No one compares, you stand alone
To every record I own
Music to my heart, that’s what you are
A song that goes on and on
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat
I, I love you like a love song baby (3x)
I love you like a love song.

What I did for Christmas: Nativity Play and Easy No Sew Costumes

How to Make Easy, No Sew Nativity Costumes

We made our no sew costumes from the choir robes for our production of the Nativity play at church. Mary, Joseph, three Wise Men, the angels, and the burrow all wore easy, no sew costumes that are easy to make. Enjoy!

Nativity Play and Easy No Sew Costumes
Nativity Scene with no sew choir robes for Mary and Joseph.
Little burrow is wearing brown hoodie with ears and tail attached with hot glue.

We made the costumes with what we had on hand,so we used choir robes, altar gowns, hoodies, and pillow cases.

The setting was magical. Mayhem wore her fanciest dress.

Nativity Angels no sew choir robe costumes

The miracle of Jesus must have played a hand. The kids did a fantastic job acting out the nativity play, despite only one performance with the entire cast. The little angels are wearing altar gowns adorned with Christmas garland. Poster board wings are also decorated with gold garland and attached with white ribbon arm straps looped thru two slits in the wing like a backpack strap.

What we do in real life: Outreach to Senior Citizen's Homes. Kids join our Drama Club or take a class and then we present it to real-life audiences spreading a message of  'Good Cheer' all thru the year.
