His history (his story) is lesser known than that of other Presidents, but it is very interesting. - He was born in North Bend, Ohio in 1833.
- Republican
- He lived in Indianapolis for many years.
- Married twice, his second wife was the niece of his first wife.
- He died of Pneumonia on March 13, 1901.
- James Whitcomb Riley delivered his eulogy.

Immerse yourself in history when you take a tour of the Benjamin Harrison home in Indianapolis. We visited on President's Day and had the privilege of "meeting" President Harrison. They offer school tours and homeschool days. They are open every day except Sunday from 10:30-3:30. The parking and restroom facilities are conveniently located near the Welcome Center. Tours start in the Welcome Center.

We found this cute George Washington printable project display holder at Squish Preschool Ideas. I think all the details are at Scholastics.com: Abraham Lincoln Printable.
Though, it was designed to highlight a paper, I think it would make a good president paper bag puppet.
Teachers/Parents:
Download this printable Venn Diagram, and have the students fill it out prior to reading the stage play. As they read the play aloud, let them add details to their Venn Diagram. We've also linked to a fun printable that compares and contrasts facts about Washington and Lincoln.

Another popular question... Who would win in a fight between George Washington and Abe Lincoln?
Easy. As a past military hero and soldier, George is the clear choice. Honest Abe wouldn't fight unless it was a battle of wits and then he has our vote, but both men were very intelligent in their own right.
Grab a journal and write about who you think would win and list reasons why.

Our most famous Presidents are memorable for many reasons. Some made great changes in history, some were impeached, some were assassinated, and other's served for many years. Copy the list below into a Google Doc and then list the Presidential Number, President's years in office (term), Vice President, Dog's name, and one or two things that made him well-known.
For example:
Barack Obama, 44th President 2009-Present, Joe Biden, Bo, and The Affordable Care Act or First African American President.
Find more about them from Brainpop.com, Presidents. If you are not a Brainpop subscriber, you can still click the links and learn a little about each President. However, you won't be able to watch the fun video about the President unless it is offered free. The "Presidents" link above offers lesson plans too. The list below is also linked to Brainpop videos.

Jimmy Carter was the thirty-ninth (39th) President of the U.S. A Georgia Democrat, he is known for his forward thinking on environmental issues, as an advocate for human rights, peace making, and for owning a peanut farm. Enjoy!

In 2002, Mr. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work "to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development". Presidents Barack Obama, Theodore Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson were also awarded the prize.
FUN FACT:
Jimmy Carter was the first president born in a hospital.

Mayhem is a huge fan of Barack Obama so when tasked with the assignment to make a "worker" puppet for Social Studies class she said, "Barack is a worker for America." Thus, the paper bag puppet below. In one hand he has a microphone for giving speeches (she loves to watch). In the other hand, he has a ring for his wife, Michelle Obama, because "they are married together".

So, when I was a kid in elementary school I remember the big election doings of Jimmy Carter. He was my favorite President for years. A real life cartoon character with peanuts and Billy too boot. Shh... I guess he still is today, but don't tell any political analyst or anyone like that. I love all of the humanitarian work he does, his sense of humor, his forward thinking on going GREEN, and his smile. Hmm... I think I see a pattern here.
Who is your favorite President? Remember a particular election? Now, if you will pardon me for rushing off... I've got to go make a Jimmy Carter paper bag puppet.
