Smith Labyrinth
The Smith Labyrinth is located in Hawthorn Park. It's a floor plan of an actual labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral in France. This one is surrounded by a wildflower garden and hiking trails. Jake walked the labyrinth while we sat in a swing and watched.

Be sure to check the time on the sun dial.

Candles Holocaust Museum
Candles Holocaust Museum was founded by Eva Kors, a Holocaust survivor. This is a very small museum tucked away in the heart of Terre Haute. At first glance, it doesn't seem like much but it is full of history! Eva was recently the Grand Marshal of the Indianapolis 500 parade.

During the Holocaust, twins were used in cruel experiments. Eva had a twin sister. The focus of the museum is Eva's experience as an Eugenics Twin. This would make an excellent topic for a homeschool research paper.

Eva and other holocaust survivors worked with Steven Spielberg to record their story. These stories were filmed at different angles with state of the art technology. This process allows you to talk to a holocaust survivor. You can ask them a question and the computer generated image will answer it as if you were sitting together.

Quotes About Maple Syrup: Pancakes Make it Socially Acceptable

Pancake Syrup Quote and Maple Syrup Recipes

Do you love pancake syrup? Without pancakes we have little excuse to eat it. Some people dip sausages in syrup, while others mix it in with their oatmeal, but let's face it, pancakes were invented to make eating gallons of maple syrup socially acceptable. We've designed this shareable quote for Facebook- just in time for Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday is February 28, 2017 and IHOP Pancake Day is March 7, 2017). Battleground Indiana Wolf Park Field Trip: Things to do in Indiana

Field Trip Idea for Indiana: Wolf Park Review

If you are looking for a unique field trip experience, you will want to take a trip to Battleground, Indiana's Wolf Park. You'll learn about and see live Wolves. It is a fun and educational Indiana Field Trip. Enjoy!

Have you ever been fascinated by the distant howl of a wolf? Would you like to see one up close? Have you wanted to belt out your best wolf howl? These are all possible at Wolf Park in Battleground, IN.  Wolf Park is dedicated to behavioral research, education and conservation to improve the public’s understanding of wolves.

Battleground Indiana Wolf Park Field Trip:
Things to do in Indiana.

We visited Wolf Park for their Howl Night Program. From our spot on the bleachers, we learned about the beautiful animals, their history, and most importantly how to imitate their howls. Six of the current pack were spotted and seemed very curious about all of us.

As the evening wore on and darkness descended, we began to feel like we were in their world, like we were the ones in an enclosure, not the other way around. After the lecture and howling lesson, we went down to the fence for a closer look at the wolves. It truly gave us a sense of their size and “fluffiness” as my daughter put it.

Wolf exhibit.

When the show was over, we were free to take a short hike around the grounds to visit the bison, foxes, and coyotes. A visit to their gift shop and educational center is also a must visit.

The park offers special programs for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with special Holiday events, such as, their Pumpkin Party held every October, Turkey Toss in November, and visits with Santa in December.  There are also photo seminars and educational seminars offered. For more information go to wolfpark.org.

Of course, there are many things to do in Indy with kids. We are highlighting Mass Avenue, but sharing some other things you will enjoy. Click the links for more detailed information about downtown Indianapolis activities for families.

Take a stroll along Mass Ave during the day, and take a peek inside all of the unique shops. Don't miss the Mass Ave toy store. The staff is friendly and testing out demo toys is encouraged! The staff is also happy to demonstrate some of the more challenging toys, so that the kids can play with them on their own.

While you're walking, pay attention to the street art! Be sure to get a picture making you the "I" in Indy. Apparently, the sculpture moves all over downtown. If you miss it, there is plenty of other street art, as well, as art exhibits.

After all that playing and walking, you'll be hungry. There are two kid approved pizza eateries on Mass Avenue: Bazbeauxs and Pizzology.

Catch a kid-friendly show at the nearby Murat Theater, now the Old National Centre. If you arrive early, there is plenty of parking.

Csz (Comedy Sportz) and the Theatre on the Square are both located in the Mass Avenue district.

The Fire Station Museum is the perfect refuge for those who dream of becoming firefighters. Open Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Now, to the best part of Mass Avenue- Desserts! Get big, beautiful cupcakes from The Flying Cupcake. Top off your cupcake with Mass Ave ice cream from Sub Zero. They literally make the ice cream right before your eyes using liquid nitrogen.

So, we wanted to show you a picture of our ice cream, but we ate it too fast. Besides, you know what ice cream looks like! At Sub Zero, it starts as sweet cream. They also have gluten-free and dairy-free options. If you are really hungry, they serve sandwiches too! The best part, they stay open until 10 p.m. Catch a show and then catch some ice cream!
