Well, pickle biscuits! That nose is a half-mask from Oriental Trading Company. I can't find it anywhere now. It came in an assortment of animals noses including: dog, elephant, duck, parakeet, and cat. I got a dozen for less than $5. You might check the Dollar Tree.

You will need:

1 Bag of Feathers (Dollar Tree)
1 Plastic Beak Nose/Mask
1 Plastic Half Mask
Glue Stick or Glue Gun

For the bird mask above, I used a heavy duty glue stick with a large dose of patience. Glue the Nose on first and then plan the feather design by laying them out before gluing. Stick feathers up under the mask and tuck the tips under the plume of the other feathers.

The masks above are available for less than $1 each on Amazon.com. Click the link below the image to purchase.

Sunday Food for Thought Weight 2011

What have I learned from a year ago today?  Things don't change you nor do resolutions, other people, or guilt. Only the right mind set can you change you. Focus on what you can do and will stick to, not what you probably won't do and can't stick to, filter out everyone else's fodder. Once you start changing that mind set everything else will fall into place.

I'm updating my blogs and my life.
Here is a fun, personal post from a year ago, Weight Loss Saga of an Overweight Food Hater
Do you do the Dew?  Even a vanishing rat won't stop me.  It's my drug of choice.  It improves my mood, cuts the flim-flam from my cough, and seems to keep everything flowing properly.  My teeth and my weight are it's nemesis. I'm gonna be that lady from this old post too.  Chaos (Scroll down and you'll see her, the future me, with her cart and no teeth.)

I gotta run. It is getting late and I haven't had my morning Dew yet.

Unique Classroom Valentine Craft: Pig Valentine Decoration

Pig Valentine Classroom Craft

Looking for a unique classroom valentine decoration? We made a cute pig (or turn it into an Angry Bird) from a recycled satin Christmas bulb ornament. This is an easy and fun Valentine craft for elementary or preschool kids. Enjoy!

Hang the craft on a Valentine tree or make a mobile. When Pigs fly...  Oink you excited to get started?

Pig Valentine Ornament for Classroom Craft for Kids
Unique Classroom Valentine Craft: Pig Valentine Decoration

To Make Valentine Pig Ornament, You Need:

Felt, Foam, Feathers, Pipe-cleaners, Glue, Ribbon, a Straight Pin, and a Satin Christmas Ball Ornament.

Note the spiraled pipe-cleaner for his tail.

Use the straight pin to 'pre-drill' (punch) holes into the ball where the tail and feathers will go.  Add glue to the tip and insert into holes.  Cut out eyes, ears, and nose and attach with glue. Tie a ribbon through the hanger. Design your own Valentine Tree with a wire hanger or attach to a back-pack zipper.

Creative Tip:
Attach a note that says, "I'll stop loving you when pigs fly" or "Oink you going to be my valentine?"

Wordless Wednesday

Blast from the past. I posted this on Facebook over a year ago. The little one dressed herself and bounded in proud of her accomplishment, "I'm ready, Mommy." I wonder if this was the moment that changed her sense of style? She tries to match and dress like a pretty princess these days. Did I over react? I don't remember what went down.  Probably a, "You can't wear that to town."

Note shoes on opposite feet and stylish Elmo infant socks.
Town.  People make fun of me for saying that. I go to town when I go to the store. Do you?  I guess it stems from growing up in between two cornfields just outside of city limits.

While looking at this picture it occurred to me that these were all once a favorite item of clothing.

Recently, I discovered milk can be frozen - just be sure to pour about a cup out to allow for expansion.
My eggs always freeze in the fridge. Except the annoyance of getting the shells off they work just fine. So, I wondered; can you freeze eggs?  We freeze people eggs, why not poultry eggs?

Turns out, it's a yes. Read the Frozen Eggs link below for how to.
